Doctors say the boy was malnourished by his parents' vegan diet, but the couple says carbon monoxide from a faulty furnace led to the boy's health problems. <br /><br />The boy was taken into state custody. <br /><br />One of the Thaxton's other children died in October 2001 and the couple says that was also related to carbon monoxide poisoning. But a medical examiner has said the boy malnourished. <br /><br />Carbon monoxide poisoning can lead to vitamin deficiencies which can also occur in vegan diets. The couple will undergo a psychological evaluation.
